In 2012, after a long year of fundraising and planning and preparing to travel away for a week-long camp at the Eastern Goldfields Camp School in Kalgoorlie - we did it! It was an incredible week of fun and adventure, from 10-14 September 2012. The train trip was the longest journey some of our students have been on, and for some of our students it was also their very first time away from home! Students visited the mining museum, had a history tour around town, panned for gold, visited the Royal Flying Doctors base, and were in awe at the size of the Super Pit! Lots of food was eaten at camp, some fabulous team games in the evenings, a movie night, and a brilliant spooks night that left the students wondering to this day - "Is Jack real?". You'll have to ask our students for the story there! We are very grateful to our sponsors and donors, all those parents and community members who assisted us with fundraising and making this event happen for our students. It was truly a wonderful week. We saw the students blossom and grow throughout the week, with new friendships and close ties created amongst many. Here's a photo taken from the top of the viewing area at the Super Pit.
