Assessment
DEC Policy Statement:
All students at Shenton College Deaf Education Centre will be assessed with appropriate assessment tools to identify the individual needs of each student. This will enable the student to maximise their capacity to achieve identified outcomes. As well as assessment tools, the Outcomes and Assessment Framework will be used as a guide to develop programs and report on the individual student’s achievement. The level of the student and not their age or year level will determine the educational program that is mapped out through the Individual Education Plan. The Deaf Education Centre ensures that the Curriculum Assessment Reporting (CAR) policy of the Department of Education and Training is adhered to.
Each student has an Individual Education Plan (IEP)

- A review date and an end date
- Signatures of the parent, student and staff
- Assessments being used
- The teacher responsible for the student
- The outcomes, strategies and targets
- The IEP will detail achievement and a copy will be given to parents
The IEP will draw on:
