Shenton College

SCDEC is proud to be in a unique partnership arrangement with Shenton College. As co-located schools, the Deaf Education Centre is supported by Shenton College to achieve our mission and our mutual goals of excellence for our respective and shared students.

The Deaf Education Centre has developed a collaborative and productive relationship with Shenton College and this ensures the students have access to mainstream classes in a leading state school, with a reputation for achieving excellent results.

One of the major ‘value adding’ programs SCDEC brings to Shenton College is the incredibly successful and very popular “Auslan as a LOTE” program which was introduced at the school in 2014. Well over 100 mainstream hearing students across several year levels are currently participating in the Auslan program, with magnificent results to date and increased inclusivity for Deaf students on campus with Auslan so well embraced across the school.  In 2019 over 160 hearing and Deaf students will be learning Auslan.
